Safety Transportation Manager and Safety Transportation Specialist (multiple positions available)

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Primary Purpose

 

                 This position directs the transportation safety management process and provides overall support and guidance to the regional, area and local transportation operations organizations.. The Manager introduces and oversees systems and activities to maintain oversight of regulatory compliance status; provides training and professional development for management and CMV operators; coordinates and manages the crash management process; conducts audits and inspections of the transportation safety management process; and monitors metrics and indices reflecting performance.

                    The Safety and Training Specialist will report to the Safety Manager and is responsible for the coordination, direction and administration of driver related training and safety issues at the St. Augusta terminal. Due to the sensitivity and importance of safety, this position will work closely with the Operations Manager. This position also includes compliance with state and federal rules and regulations as they pertain to the driver employees.

 

 

Key Responsibilities – Safety

 

Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety.

Monitoring driver qualification files and the hiring and selection process

Reviewing hours of service records for accuracy

Oversee and Monitor the company’s Safety and GPS Management System.

Provide onsite, post-accident support in the event of an accident.

Interview, collect, and document the appropriate information for a thorough accident or incident investigation.

Oversee and monitor safety reports and data developed by on-board computer systems to insure safe driving and proper behavior by driver employees.

Ensure driver employees are compliant with the training requirements for their specific responsibilities, including DOT state and federal regulations.

Assure all documented monthly inspections and preventative maintenance on every vehicle are filed properly

Notify, monitor and ensure compliance with various state/federal regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.)

Assure all vehicle registration and licenses are current at all times

Train drivers on company policies & procedures and monitor compliance

Assist in drivers on logs

Audit all drive qualification, medical and compliance files in a secure and confidential manner

Ensure that Safety is the #1 focus within the operation

Prepare, organize and present training for employees as it relates to safety and driving.

Developing materials and conducting training for drivers in the implementation of the Transportation Safety Management System

Assure in vehicle driver training is completed with every active driver

Assure vehicle inspection hands on training is completed with every active driver

Assure all active drivers are trained in close quarter maneuvering principles

Comply with any other job related requirement s, directed or requested by the higher authority within the company

Possess knowledge of local, state and federal laws related to truck operators, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Rules.

Possess the computer skills needed to learn, understand and thoroughly navigate within company computer programs.

Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience in compliance management, safety

High energy level, dependable, hard-working and emotional control

Familiarity with State & Federal safety laws and DOT requirements

Strong knowledge of Fleet Management System

Excellent team building and mentoring skills

Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

Must have excellent communication and negotiation skills

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), PDF Editor, Photoshop
