Post-Communist Romania: An American Perspective
A Book Launch featuring Alan Elsner’s recent novel: “Romance Language”   

Chicago, IL, March 2010 - Romanian Cultural Exchange (ROCX), a non-profit, Chicago-based organization dedicated to promoting creative programs in the context of Romanian-American cultural and educational exchange, invites you to attend Post-Communist Romania: An American Perspective, a book launch presented by distinguished author Alan Elsner. The event will take place at 6:30pm on Friday, March 19th 2010 at 737 N. Michigan Ave, Olympia Center, Suite 2000, Chicago. Mr. Elsner will be presenting his latest novel, ‘Romance Language’, a novel that is part love story, part historical drama, part coming-of-age, set in modern-day Romania, with tails of 1989 when the country struggled under its communist regime. About the Author:
{Alan Elsner}
Alan Elsner is a journalist with Thomson-Reuters and a writer with a fascinating personality. Throughout his career, Alan experienced the most amazing cultures, witnessed wars, terrorism and natural disasters. His career exposed him to a wide range of politicians and individuals including Presidents of the United States, Secretaries of States and innumerous activists.   

Alan’s debut book  is Gates of Injustice: The Crisis in America’s Prisons (Prentice Hall, 2004),  followed by  Guarded by Angels: How My Father and Uncle Survived Hitler and Cheated Stalin (Yad Vashem, 2005) and The Nazi Hunter (Arcade, 2006), which is also Alan’s first novel. About the Photographer and Exhibition
Jennifer Okray is currently working on her Master in Journalism from Northwestern University. She has a special interest in documentary and photojournalism in global cultures and affairs. She has experienced the Romanian culture by living for four months in Brasov, Romania. Her work captures the essence of the Romanian culture seen through the eyes of a young American journalist.
